How do I cool down my house with solar?

As we head into the hottest months of summer, many people remember how hot their house was last year and they still haven't done anything about it. Mostly, homeowners are scared of the capital cost and ongoing running cost of air conditioners not to mention the planetary cost of increased energy consumption and resulting carbon emissions. Well, the answer lies with solar hot air extraction! Devices such as Solar Whiz can easily be installed on most roofs and while the sun is shining will extract hot air from your roof cavity or directly from inside the home without being connected to the grid. These units can remove between 1400m3 - 3000m3 of hot air per hour when in full sun. In addition, they can remove moist humid air and reduce the incidence of mould and mildew. Many homes can reach  temperatures in excess of 50degC in the roof cavity which inhibits the house's ability to cool down quickly when the outside temperature reduces. The Solar Whiz unit removes that hot air giving your insulation a chance to do its job more quickly and efficiently. Call ESD for a quote to install in the Eurobodalla or order one of the units directly through our website for elswhere.
